Physicians/Medical Directors
Our physicians are specialists with extensive education and experience in reproductive endocrinology, infertility, gynecology and women's healthcare.
Dr. Jeremy Kredentser, MD, FRCSC, Co-Director
Dr. Kredentser has over 20 years experience in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He was associated with two IVF programs and served a 13-year term as Head of the Reproductive Endocrinology Section of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Health Sciences Centre/University of Manitoba before becoming a partner in the HEARTLAND Fertility & Gynecology Clinic.
Dr. Kredentser is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Manitoba. He did a fellowship at Harvard Medical School and is certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has authored many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has served on sub-specialty committees of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada. Dr. Kredentser has taken additional training in the areas of microsurgery, laparoscopic surgery and hysteroscopic surgery.
Dr. Francis Lee, BSc, MSc, MD, FRCSC, FACOG, Co-Director
Dr. Lee has extensive experience in gynecology, gynecological surgery, and women's health issues. He is a Training Preceptor for advanced techniques in laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, laser and microscopic tubal reversal surgeries. His expertise also includes urinary incontinence surgeries and the latest techniques in tension-free transvaginal tapes. He was associated with the Infertility Clinic at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg from 1981 to 1997. He then started the Heartland Fertility and Gynecology Clinic with Drs. Kredentser and McTavish in 1997.
Dr. Lee has published in peer review articles, as well as presented in national and international meetings. Dr. Lee is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Manitoba. He is also a lecturer in the Department of Family Medicine. He is currently serving as a Seminar Coordinator for 4th year medical students in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has received numerous awards for outstanding teaching, and contributions towards medical education at the University of Manitoba. He also serves in the Sub-Committee for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Section in the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecology of Canada (SOGC). He was Past President for the Manitoba Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as Past President for the Manitoba Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). He is currently a Member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).
Dr. Gordon McTavish, MD, FRCSC, Co-Director
Dr. McTavish is the Director of Ultrasound and one of the Founding Partners of the HEARTLAND Fertility and Gynecology Clinic. His extensive experience in women's healthcare and gynecological surgery includes advanced operative laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and all areas of reproductive and infertility care. His expertise includes tubal reanastomosis, laser surgery, endometriosis surgery, uterine fibroids, and uterine anomalies.
Dr. McTavish was a Family Physician prior to his residency. He is certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons and completed the Society of Reproductive Surgeons Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Reproductive Surgery in Nashville Tennessee. He has authored papers, received teaching awards and is also registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba for the use of ultrasound.
Dr. McTavish is actively involved in medical education and is currently serving as the Coordinator of the Resident Training Program for Reproductive Endocrinology and also an Education Specialist for the Minimally Invasive Surgical Program for Gynecology at the University of Manitoba, Health Science Centre. He also chairs the Endoscopy Committee for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, is the Vice Chair of the Manitoba Section District VI of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists& Gynecology(ACOG) and is a past Board member of The Giving Hope Fertility Assistance Fund.
Laboratory Director
Dr. Scot Hamilton, MSc, PhD
Dr. Hamilton earned his degrees at the University of Western Ontario and trained in the IVF program in London, Ontario. After directing the IVF laboratory at the HEARTLAND Fertility & Gynecology Clinic in Manitoba, he returned to Ontario. He currently directs the laboratory at ISIS Regional Fertility Clinic, holds a position as Adjunct Professor in the Physiology Department at the University of Western Ontario and is consulting Laboratory Director at HEARTLAND Fertility & Gynecology Clinic.
Laboratory Technologists
Cindy Faraci, M.L.T., Laboratory Supervisor
Cindy Faraci is a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with experience in clinical chemistry, and research experience in transplant immunology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology laboratories. She is a member of both the Canadian and Manitoba Society of MLT's and is licensed with the College of Medical Technologists of Manitoba. She is also a member of the Canadian Fertility & Andrology Society and regularly attends national meetings. She has successfully completed the ESHERE Basic Semen Analysis course.
Deborah Manchur, M.L.T, Embryologist/Andrologist
Deborah Manchur is a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with experience in serology, parasitology, prenatal screening, and research at the University of Manitoba. She is a member of both the Canadian and Manitoba Society of MLT's and is licensed with the College of Medical Technologists of Manitoba. She is also a member of the Canadian Fertility & Andrology Society and attends annual national meetings.
Jennifer Scott, BSc, Embryologist/Andrologist
Jennifer Scott has a Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University of Manitoba. She has experience in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, immunology and microbiology, working in research and development laboratories. Jennifer is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS).
Nurses
The HEARTLAND Nursing team regularly attends conferences and in-services to keep up to date on the latest Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART).
Tammy MacInnis, R.N., Active member of CRNM
Tammy MacInnis’ nursing background includes work in ICU, emergency and
obstetrics in various locations in Manitoba as well as over a decade of Advanced
Reproductive Technologies (ART) nursing at Heartland. She is an active member of
the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). She is a Canadian Fertility
and Andrology Society (CFAS) member and an active member of the Nurses
Special Interest Group of CFAS. Tammy is also a current member of the American
Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and will be completing a nursing
certificate course in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) by July 2012.
Martha Borys, R.N., B.N. Active member of CRNM
Martha Borys is the latest addition to the nursing team at Heartland. Most of her
career was spent in high risk obstetrics at Health Sciences Centre here in
Winnipeg. Her experience is in operating room, recovery room, obstetrical
triage, and postpartum, with the majority of her time spent nursing labour and
delivery patients. Martha is an active member of the College of Registered Nurses
of Manitoba (CRNM) and the AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health and
Obstetrical Neonatal Nursing).
Susan Larson, R.N., Active member of CRNM
Susan Larson has experience in women’s health, gynecology, labor and delivery,
postpartum, and neonatal care. She specializes in Advanced Reproductive
Technologies (ART) nursing, is a member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology
Society (CFAS) and a member of the CFAS Nurses Special Interest Group. She is
also an active member of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM),
the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and will be completing a
nursing certificate course in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) by
July 2012.
Joan Toms, R.N., Active member of CRNM
Joan Toms is an experienced nurse in critical care, pediatrics, medicine and
surgery. Her nursing career features ambulatory surgery, procedural sedation and
working in clinical settings. She is an active member of the College of Registered
Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS)
and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and will be
completing a nursing certificate course in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
(REI) by July 2012. Joan is a recipient of the 2008 Canadian Nurses Association
National Centennial Award.
Jennifer Leinweber, R.N., Active member of CRNM
Jennifer Leinweber’s professional nursing experience is focused on women’s health,
high and low risk obstetrics. In addition, she has worked as an operating room and

Cathy Gooch, R.N., Active member of CRNM
Cathy has a strong medical and surgical background in pediatrics, women’s health
and ICU. She has worked in various facilities across the country and has
experience in Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART) nursing. She is a
member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) and an active
member of the CFAS Nurses Special Interest Group. She is also an active member
of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM), the American Society for
Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and will be completing a nursing certificate course
in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) by July 2012. Cathy proudly
